About Me

Yadyra Rivera, MD, is the Program Director, Breast Oncology at Holy Name Medical Center and is dual board certified in hematology and medical oncology. She specializes in the use of chemotherapeutic drugs, immunotherapy, targeted and hormonal therapies, as well as treatment for pain and symptom management.

Dr. Rivera is a firm believer that effective treatment requires her patients to have a complete understanding of their treatment plan and receive personalized care. She utilizes a distinct patient-centered care model to ensure each patient receives the most effective treatment based on the unique characteristics of their specific case. She is passionate about new technologies and therapeutic approaches and is the Principal Investigator for many clinical trials.

Dr. Rivera believes in establishing a foundation of trust. Her explanations use simple language, align with national guidelines, and offer hope without misleading the patient. The bond that Dr. Rivera builds with her patients extends to the entire care team within the Cancer Center. The team works with each patient based on their individualized need to break down any barriers to care, understanding the diagnosis and treatment plan, and walking them through each step of the cancer journey.

Dr. Rivera regularly participates in outreach programs to provide cancer education programs for Hispanic and African-American communities.
