There is a lot of excitement in the maternity unit... and it's not just because of the babies. Following extensive renovations to Holy Name's maternity unit, expectant mothers are now giving birth in sleek, new, private rooms.

Each of the twenty birth suites has been updated with wood-accented walls and flooring, contemporary furnishings, and a reconfigured en suite bathroom– all designed to provide the utmost in comfort and safety. Adjoining bathrooms now feature floor-to-ceiling tile, stone countertops, and a waterfall shower with bench seating. Suites also include a smart TV with built-in web browser for patient education, entertainment, and social media use. Further renovations are planned for the nurse’s station and C-section rooms.

But the transformation goes beyond the remodeled rooms. During their stay, parents have access to certified lactation specialists around-the-clock, and maternity discharge planning nurses provide individualized education on baby care basics, like breastfeeding, car seat safety, and vaccines. These maternal-child health specialists also follow-up with mom and baby once they leave the hospital, counseling on care options and identifying symptoms of postpartum depression.

Families can now celebrate with a white-linen gourmet dinner cooked to perfection by Holy Name's head chef and enjoy impromptu snacks from the kitchen's new bedside menu. Through Holy Name's partnership with Bella Baby Photography, parents are also able to instantly share the perfect image from their newborn’s first professional photo shoot.

"All these renovations and new services enhance the patient experience and help us to continue providing the highest quality care for moms and their newborns," says Ashley D'Elia, DNP, MSN, RNC-OB, Director of Women's and Children's Services.
