Holy Name's First Annual Walk for C.A.R.E. to Benefit Patricia Lynch Cancer Center Patients

Funds raised will cover out-of-pocket costs of screenings and treatment for patients in need

Holy Name Medical Center is hosting its first Walk for C.A.R.E. (Cancer Awareness Reaching Everyone) on Sunday, October 6 from 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. to help fund out-of-pocket costs associated with cancer screenings and treatment for Patricia Lynch Cancer Center patients in need. The walk route spans the one-mile perimeter of Holy Name's campus in Teaneck. Walk for C.A.R.E. is an expansion of Holy Name's Walk for Mom event held in previous years.

"We encourage anyone in our community who is impacted by cancer to participate,” said Jean T. Jordan, vice president of oncology services at Holy Name Medical Center. "Our goal is to not only raise funds for people in our community who are living with cancer – we also want to empower, inspire, and give hope to fighters, caregivers, survivors, families, and friends. Staff from departments throughout Holy Name are forming teams to show their support."

There are many ways to participate including walking or volunteering at the event, spreading the word to family and friends, sharing information about the walk on social media, and donating to the cause. Event sponsors include Andrew & Barbara Choi Family Foundation, Dashing Diva, The Grace & Mercy Foundation, Inserra Supermarkets Inc., M&T Bank, The Ong Family Foundation, Suez, 3Lab, and Walmart.

The event is coordinated through Holy Name's Center for Healthy Living, which provides informational and educational programs, health fair and screening events, and other resources to the community.
