Holy Name Medical Center Nationally Recognized With An 'A' For the Fall 2019 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

November 7, 2019

Holy Name Medical Center was again awarded an "A" from The Leapfrog Group (Leapfrog) for its hospital safety score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. Holy Name was one of 877 hospitals in the U.S. to receive an "A" for patient safety. Of the 69 New Jersey acute care hospitals graded, less than half - 31 hospitals - earned the top grade.

"Earning this designation validates the commitment and efforts of our entire health care team," said Michael Maron, president and CEO of Holy Name. "From trusted organizations like Leapfrog and CMS, Holy Name continues to meet the highest standards for safety and quality as one of New Jersey’s top rated hospitals."

"'A' hospitals show us their leadership is protecting patients from preventable medical harm and error," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "It takes genuine commitment at every level – from clinicians to administrators to the board of directors – and we congratulate the teams who have worked so hard to earn this A."

Developed under the guidance of a national Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year. The Hospital Safety Grade’s methodology is peer-reviewed and fully transparent, and the results are free to the public.
