Holy Name today announced it has been approved and licensed by the Department of Health to operate a Level III state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), an upgrade from its previous status as a Level II special care nursery. The transformation underscores Holy Name’s commitment to adapting to the changing healthcare demands of the community it serves and ensures every newborn has access to specialized, high-quality, care.
The special care nursery will continue to serve moms and babies while construction on the Level III NICU remains underway. The new space is scheduled to open late summer 2024 and will feature cutting-edge medical technology and a full staff of neonatologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, and other specialists to provide precise care for our littlest patients and their families.
The transition to a Level III NICU will allow Holy Name to support our smallest and most delicate infants. These newborns, born during the second trimester, may need prolonged time on a ventilator and intensive care.
This advancement follows the recent modernization of Holy Name’s BirthPlace, which together offers new parents more comfort and convenience — from family bonding time, to reduced levels of stress, and continuity of care for mom and baby.
