Many members of the quickly expanding Chinese American population in northern New Jersey have language and cultural differences that often present obstacles in obtaining health care screenings and treatment. Holy Name Medical Center, through its Chinese American Program (CMP) and in partnership with Chinese Americans physicians, is focused on providing education, screenings and treatment options for members of the Chinese community. Physician lectures are conducted in Chinese to remove cultural and language barriers that often exist among the participants.
Under the umbrella of Asian Health Services, the CMP is offering a Healthy Lifestyle Expo for Chinese Americans on April 9, from 9 AM to 2 PM in the Medical Center's Marian Hall. Blood screenings for A1C and hepatitis B will be offered, as well as individual consultations by bilingual specialists, in cardiology, nephrology, oncology, internal medicine and psychiatry. Participants will also receive a free lunch.
Pre-registration is suggested. Call 201-833-3388 to make an appointment or to find out more about the CMP at Holy Name.
