Fernando Garip Joins Holy Name Medical Center’s Board of Trustees

Financial Expertise Will Help with Short- and Long-Term Strategies

January 9, 2017

Holy Name Medical Center is delighted to welcome Fernando Garip to its Governing Board. As a respected wealth manager and President of Wilmington Trust's NJ Region, Garip's investing expertise will help inform Holy Name's board decisions. Garip is also highly regarded for his client management skills, which is going to be critical for Holy Name as the hospital builds deeper, stronger bonds with the community.

"Fernando is a successful wealth management professional who brings a history of smart financial decisions to our board," said Michael Maron, President and CEO of Holy Name. "His expertise and integrity will be a great asset to Holy Name."

Garip, from Hackensack, oversees the development and coordination of wealth management services for prominent individuals, families, corporations and foundations. Under his tenure at Wilmington Trust, the NJ Region's assets have grown approximately $500 million during the past three years.

"We are fortunate to have Fernando, with his many years of experience in wealth management and broad geographic representation, join our board," said John M. Geraghty, Chairperson of the Board.

In addition to his wealth management work, Garip regularly speaks on a variety of related topics at conferences and other forums ranging from global economics to estate planning. Wilmington Trust's charitable foundation also supports a number of non-profit organizations throughout the New York and New Jersey region.

"I am so happy to be part of the Holy Name family," Garip said. "I've wanted to be involved for a long time in an organization that does so much for the community, not just in providing medical care but for its charitable work in so many areas."

Garip has more than 25 years of experience in wealth management, serving as regional director at TD Wealth, chief investment officer and director at Commerce Asset Management, and several manager positions at Summit Bank and United Jersey Bank. Fernando holds a bachelor's degree from Villanova University and completed the Executive Management Program at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government. He has also volunteered for a number of civic organizations including past president of Gilda's Club and Red Cross of Bergen County NJ Chapter. He is also chairman of the Hackensack Planning Board and a past member of the Bergen County Planning Board.
