The Department of Respiratory Care Services at Holy Name Hospital has received the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC)'s Quality Respiratory Care Recognition designation. This recognition means that Respiratory Care services meet strict safety and quality standards and are provided by credentialed respiratory therapists.
"We're proud to once again receive this annual designation," says John Oller, R.R.T., administrative director of Respiratory Care Services. "This attests to the continuing high quality of respiratory care at Holy Name and the expertise of our respiratory care practitioners."
Hospitals and health care facilities who receive this designation are listed on a database of providers found on a patient education link from AARC's web site called www.yourlunghealth.org. This database provides consumers with the highest quality respiratory care providers in their geographic area.
The Department of Respiratory Care Services consistently meets high standards for other quality designations as well, including a five-star rating from HealthGrades and the J.D. Power and Associates Distinguished Hospital Award.
Twenty-one full-time and part-time respiratory care practitioners (also called respiratory therapists) and 10 per diem staff members provide both inpatient and outpatient services 24 hours a days, seven days a week for patients of all ages with cardiopulmonary and sleep disorders in many diverse areas ofthe hospital, including the medical/surgical intensive care unit, Emergency Medicine Department, Lobby North, pediatrics unit, and special care nursery.
