Visitors and staff enjoy fresh kosher food at Holy Name Hospital's public cafe
Keeping kosher can be a challenge. But Holy Name Hospital makes it easy to observe dietary laws with high quality food products that are RCBC (Rabbinical Council of Bergen County)-approved.
Java Jitney, a Fairlawn-based Kosher mobile caterer, delivers sandwiches, salads and desserts three times a week to the Hospital's Patio Bistro, which is frequented largely by visitors and members of Holy Name's medical staff. And after about five months, the reviews are in.
"There's been a lot of positive feedback," says Steve Tinney, Food Service Director at Holy Name. "Everything's freshly prepared and tasty."
Tinney notes that previous Kosher food offerings in the Bistro didn't produce the present level of customer satisfaction, and credits Java Jitney's attention to detail and marketing savvy with the project's success. "In addition to the quality of the products," he observes, "the pricing is competitive, the food looks appealing, and it's attractively packaged."
The folks at Java Jitney helped get the program off the ground by assisting Holy Name in identifying audiences who would be interested in the service, and providing promotional materials, such as posters and table tents.
Java Jitney's kosher fare is being offered as "a value-added service for the community," explains Tinney, who points out that Holy Name's food service department has long been responsive to the diverse population it serves in its Teaneck location with other culture-specific amenities, such as Kosher patient meals and foreign language menus.
