Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing Ranked Number One in the Nation on National Licensing Exam

TEANECK, NJ -- The Holy Name Hospital School of Nursing Class of 2007 has achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the national licensing exam (NCLEX), according to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).

The Holy Name School of Nursing is currently ranked number one of 1565 registered nursing programs nationwide in passing the NCLEX.

Boards of nursing in the U.S. regulate and license registered nurses (RNs) and practical/vocational nurses (LPN/VNs). All member boards recognize NCSBNs nurse licensure examinations NCLEX for entry-level licensure of RNs and LPN/VNs.

NCSBN is the vehicle through which boards of nursing act and counsel together to provide regulatory excellence for public health, safety and welfare. To ensure that nurses entering the workforce have the necessary knowledge and skills to practice, NCSBN developed the NCLEX nurse licensure examinations. The tests are rigorously evaluated every three years to keep pace with the constantly changing health care environment. The NCLEX is usually the final step in the nurse licensure process. More than 200,000 nursing candidates worldwide took the test in 2007. The average pass rate was 69 percent, according to NCSBN.

The School of Nursing Registered Nurse Program is a highly competitive registered nurse diploma program, affiliated with St. Peter's College in Jersey City, New Jersey. The program is accredited with the New Jersey Board of Nursing and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission. An optional A.A.S. degree in health sciences is also available through a collaborative agreement.

Since 1972 Holy Name Hospital has also sponsored a School of Nursing - Practical Nurse Program, a 12-month practical nurse diploma program accredited with the New Jersey Board of Nursing.
