Holy Name Hospital and Suhhaikyung Foundation Sponsor Piano Virtuoso at Lincoln Center

Teaneck, NJThe Suhhaikyung Foundation and Holy Name Hospital will present "Night & Dream," a recital featuring piano virtuoso Hai-Kyung Suh, on Wednesday, May 13 at 8 p.m. at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall.

Hai-Kyung Suh endures as one of the most sublime interpreters of 19th century piano repertoire and the classic works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Chopin, Liszt, Schumann, Brahms and Rachmaninoff. A soloist of international acclaim, Professor Suh has toured as a recitalist in Germany, Australia, Japan, China, and the U.S., appearing yearly at Lincoln Center in New York City, as she continues annual tours in Korea. The Julliard School-educated pianist has also toured with the world's most celebrated orchestras, appeared on television and radio, and is an established recording artist.

Called a "pianist miracle," Hai-Kyung Suh transfixes audiences, say reviewers, with her "passionate musicality and dramatic expressiveness rarely seen" (Asahi Shimbun, Japan) and her "hair-raising virtuosity" (Der Tagesspiegel, Berlin) having "resoundingly made the difficult transition from prodigy to self-confident Old Master'" (New York Concert Review)

Professor Suh, a breast cancer survivor, is the goodwill ambassador for Holy Name Hospital's Walk for Mom Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, an annual walk-a-thon organized by the hospital's Korean Medical Program. Walk for Mom is designed to build awareness of breast health among Korean-American women, for whom the number of new breast cancer cases has doubled over the past 10 years. The campaign focuses on encouraging women to follow guidelines for routine self-examination, annual mammography and clinical examinations.

This year, the Walk for Mom Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign's fundraising goal is $100,000. The monies will be used to provide free mammography services to 200 low-income Korean-American women, as well as follow-up procedures, such as ultrasound, biopsies and surgery. Last year, the campaign raised over $100,000 and discovered early-stage breast cancer in two women, who subsequently received surgical treatment.
