Breast Cancer Awareness Walkathon and Musical Concert in Overpeck Park
Holy Name Medical Center's Korean Medical Program (KMP) will host its 7th annual "Walk for Mom" on Saturday, May 10 at the new Overpeck Park, 111 Challenger Road, in Ridgefield Park, NJ. The "Walk for Mom" Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign is an important gender-specific initiative to promote awareness among Korean American women about maintaining good breast health. Proceeds from the fundraising walkathon and musical concert will go toward providing free mammograms, clinical exams and follow-up care to 100 uninsured, low-income Korean-American women in the community. Over the past six years, the KMP has provided free breast cancer screenings and related services to over 650 women, and successfully detected and treated 17 cancer cases.
Registration for the event will begin at 10:00 am, rain or shine. The musical concert, beginning at 12:00 noon, will feature songs from Broadway musicals as well as Disney favorites from The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin and more.
The walk will start at 1:00 pm. Attractions will include free lunch and refreshments, prizes, chair massage, a photo booth, face painting and sand art for children, and take-home goody bags. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, please call the Korean Medical Program at (201)833-3399, or visit www.holyname.org/walkformom.
