September 21, 2011
The families of Holy Name Medical Center's Pregnancy and Newborn Loss support group will join hundreds of parents, health professionals and friends across the United States in a symbolic "Walk to Remember" to honor the memory of the babies who die each year.
This event, slated for Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Holy Name Medical Center - 718 Teaneck Road in Teaneck, NJ, remembers babies who were lost through miscarriage, stillbirth, or neonatal death. It allows parents and family members to share their grief with others who have had similar experiences.
Dozens of families join the annual walk to remember their lost babies. The walk concludes at the hospital's "Garden of Remembrance" where trees are planted in memory of the deceased babies.
All families, friends, caregivers and professionals whose lives have been touched by the loss of a baby or babies are invited to attend.
This walk occurs simultaneously with walks all over America, joining other people who are working to increase awareness of perinatal grief and ensuring that parents who face the death of their baby receive sensitive support and care.
October is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
