The Holy Name Hospital MS Center recently held its 12th Annual Charity Golf and Tennis Invitational raising close to $130,000 towards patient care and research at the MS Center. The event, which was held at the Knickerbocker Country Club, Tenafly, NJ, was a great success, gathering 75 golfers and 12 tennis players.
"Each year Holy Name Hospitals MS Center produces a wonderfully successful event raising funds to continue the critical work of the MS Center," said Kevin McCarthy, Vice President and Executive Director for the Holy Name Health Care Foundation. "The success of our annual outing is a direct measure of the commitment and generosity of our supporters. MS statistics are staggering with a diagnosis being made every hour. Holy Name Hospital is dedicated to continuing the fight against MS and to providing our patients with comprehensive care."
Brett Massingham, PGA Pro Golfer and Maggie Weder, USGA Womens Amateur, were co-chairs of this event. While Ms. Weder was touring, Lene Krog stepped in her place for Holy Name reading a touching letter from Ms. Weder during the dinners program. Both co-chairs are strong advocates on behalf of Holy Name Hospitals MS Center and continue to raise critical funds through this event as well as through their own personal efforts.
"2009 marks the 24th year that the Holy Name Hospital MS Center has been providing quality care to MS patients and their families," said Scott Guevin, Assistant Vice President at Holy Name Hospital. "The Center is the only non-profit, state licensed health care facility in northern New Jersey exclusively for the care of people with MS. It is our mission to deliver a fully comprehensive range of MS patient care and services, while investigators continue to conduct cutting-edge research."
