Consumer Reports Gives Holy Name Medical Center Top Scores For Safety

Out of 76 New Jersey hospitals rated for safety by Consumer Reports in its 2014 Hospital Safety Score program, Holy Name Medical Center came in at Number 4 overall. The only hospital in Bergen County to make it into the top five, Holy Name's safety rating was exceeded only by Morristown Medical Center (#1), Virtua Memorial (#2) in Mount Holly, and Jersey Shore University Medical Center (#3).The ratings were derived from scientifically-based data about patient experience and outcomes; specifically:

• Mortality
• Readmission
• Scanning
• Infections
• Communication

The patient experience and readmissions data is available on the federal government's  "Hospital Compare" website. ConsumerReports.org collects all the information and summarizes it in an easy-to-interpret format, using its familiar ratings symbols.

Holy Name Medical Center was also honored with an "A" grade from The Leapfrog Group (Leapfrog), in its Hospital Safety Score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. The Hospital Safety Score is compiled under the guidance of the nation's leading experts on patient safety and is administered by Leapfrog.
