Holy Name Medical Center's Hispanic Outreach Program Holds 3rd Annual "Walk for Hope"

The Hispanic Outreach Program (HOP) of Holy Name Medical Center (HNMC) held its third annual "Walk for Hope" on Saturday June 14, 2014. The event took place at the James J. Braddock North Hudson County Park in North Bergen, New Jersey. The "Walk for Hope" was created to raise awareness and provide healthcare education on the importance of early detection and screenings in the prevention of cancer. The walk was coordinated by Dr. Henry Fernandez-Cos, Medical Director of the HOP.

Bilingual nursing students provided blood pressure and BMI (body mass index) screenings. NJ Family Care and Health Republic Insurance were present those seeking insurance information.

The Hispanic Outreach Program at Holy Name Medical Center was developed to provide the highest level of healthcare to members of the Hispanic community and, consistent with the Medical Center's ministry of healing, to provide services and programs in a culturally sensitive and caring environment. In collaboration with physicians and allied health professionals, the program offers information and referrals as well as educational programs, seminars, and preventative screenings for residents of Bergen, Hudson and Passaic counties.
