Dr. Judith Kutzleb Named Nurse of the Year Finalist

Judith Kutzleb, DNP, RN, CCRN, APN-C, Vice President of Advanced Practice Professionals at Holy Name Medical Center (HNMC), has been selected as a finalist in the Nurse of the Year category of the 2014 NJBIZ Healthcare Heroes awards program. The awards program,  presented by New Jersey's premiere business publication, honors individuals and organizations making a significant impact on the quality of health care in New Jersey.

Dr. Kutzleb is a doctorally-prepared nurse practitioner who has spent more than 30 years in critical care nursing and 10 years in academia. In addition to serving as a Vice President at HNMC, Dr. Kutzleb is primary provider for the management of acute and chronic disease in HNMC's on-campus clinic. She is affiliated with a primary care practice in Maywood, New Jersey, and provides medical management for psychiatric patients at Comprehensive Behavioral Care in Hackensack.

Dr. Kutzleb is Assistant Professor of Nursing at Fairleigh Dickinson University and is also clinical adjunct faculty at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine. In addition to volunteering at Eva's Village in Paterson, where she provides care to the underserved and substance abuse population, she also volunteers at the Bergen Volunteer Medical Initiative in Hackensack, which provides medical care to the working uninsured in Bergen County.

Three times a year Dr. Kutzleb travels to the Hôpital Sacre Coeur in Milot, Haiti, where she is spearheading the development of a cardiac program which will provide sustainable, consistent management of cardiac patients treated in the outpatient clinic. She is also developing a new program to improve treatment modalities for pregnant women in the poverty-stricken region of Haiti.

Healthcare Heroes awards finalists will be recognized and the winner in each category will be announced at a breakfast on June 24 in Somerset, New Jersey.
