Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City. This year's Founders Ball honors Salvatore Laraia, M.D. with the Spirit of Healing Award for his many years of devoted patient care, service and leadership at Holy Name Hospital.

"Dr. Laraia's service and dedication to patient care have been exemplary. His many years of leadership on the Holy Name Hospital Board of Trustees and generosity to the Foundation have sustained the healing mission and the compassionate care that Holy Name is so well known for."
Dr. Laraia has been a member of the medical staff at Holy Name Hospital since 1962 and has served on its Medical Executive Committee as well as its Board of Trustees. He also served as Chairman for the Medical Staff phase of the Holy Name Health Care Foundation's Mission 90s capital campaign. For almost 30 years, Dr. Laraia was a member of the American Medical Association, the New Jersey Medical Society, and the Bergen County Medical Society. Throughout his decorated medical career, Dr. Laraia has had teaching appointments at the State University of New York and has co-authored several abstracts in the American Journal of Clinical Pathology as well as the New England Journal of Medicine and the Journal of Medical Society of New Jersey. Dr. Laraia also served in the Army's medical department when he was drafted in 1946.
The 2009 Founders Ball will benefit the Holy Name Health Care Foundation's Campaign for Villa Marie Claire. Located in Saddle River, New Jersey, Villa Marie Claire is now being transformed into a unique in-patient hospice the first, dedicated freestanding residential hospice facility in northern New Jersey.
"This year's Founders Ball will be an exceptional evening," said Joseph Parisi, Jr. Chairman of the Holy Name Health Care Foundation. "We have the privilege to honor Dr. Laraia with the Spirit of Healing Award, but we're also raising funds for Villa Marie Claire a critical component to Holy Name's healing legacy and its commitment to providing superb care throughout the entire continuum of life."
