Holy Name Hospital's Annual Founders Ball Raises Close to $600,000

Teaneck, NJ Holy Name Hospital's Annual Founders Ball, presented by the Holy Name Health Care Foundation, took place on November 14 at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City and raised nearly $600,000 for Villa Marie Claire, the Hospital's new hospice facility in Saddle River, NJ.

With 600 guests in attendance, the elegant evening honored Salvatore Laraia, M.D. with Holy Name's Spirit of Healing Award. Dr. Laraia accepted the honor surrounded by his family, as well as his Holy Name colleagues.

Two major philanthropic announcements were made during the evening's program. The first was a $1 million gift to the Hospital by major benefactors who have supported Holy Name for many years.

The second was a surprise gift from Rose Vialotti, who committed $1.3 million to the Campaign for Villa Marie Claire in honor of Michael Maron, President and CEO of Holy Name Hospital. By special request, Dr. Laraia made the announcement of Ms. Vialotti's gift during his remarks. Dr. Charles Vialotti, son of Rose Vialotti, is one of Holy Name's most respected oncologists, and will be the new medical director at Villa Marie Claire. Villa Marie Claire is now being transformed into a unique inpatient hospice the first, dedicated freestanding residential hospice facility in northern New Jersey.

Another poignant moment during the evening was the recognition of the 125th anniversary of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Peace, the founders and sponsors of the Holy Name Hospital.

"This year's Founders Ball was truly an exceptional evening," said Michael Maron. "We were honored to recognize Dr. Laraia, but humbled by the generosity of our supporters. These commitments exemplify the spirit of Holy Name and honor the legacy of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of Peace. Through their philanthropy, we will be able to elevate our already high standards of excellence and ensure our healing legacy for generations to come."
