Holy Name’s Cancer Support Program Teams with Ridgewood YWCA

Classes Offered For Those Impacted By Cancer

May 18, 2017

Holy Name Medical Center's Cancer Support Community is collaborating with the Ridgewood YWCA in offering several types of classes to any individual affected by cancer, whether recently diagnosed, in treatment, post treatment or in remission.

All programs take place in a heated indoor pool.

  • Aqua therapy – includes cardiovascular, strengthening and flexibility exercises to increase range of motion and improve circulation
  • Arthritis class – gentle movements to relieve joint stress, increase range of motion and relax muscles
  • Swim lessons: instruction for beginner, intermediate and advanced levels
  • Additional workshops to follow

Participants must have a note from their physician stating their diagnosis and pre-register for classes. All cancer patients are eligible, regardless of where they received treatment.

The annual fee to join these sessions at the Ridgewood YWCA is typically $400 but the affiliation with Holy Name has helped reduce the cost to $25 for those impacted by cancer. Individuals with severe financial constraints may request to have the fee waived.

For more information and to register for these classes at the YWCA, call Donnabel Rodriguez at 201-444-5600, ext. 400.
