Holy Name Medical Center's MS Center Raises Close to $110,000 At Its Annual Golf and Tennis Invitational

October 8, 2010

The Holy Name Medical Center's MS Center recently held its 13th Annual Charity Golf and Tennis Invitational raising close to $110,000 for HNMC's MS patient care and research. The event, which was held at the Knickerbocker Country Club, Tenafly, NJ, was a great success, gathering 80 golfers and 14 tennis players.

"2010 marks the 25th anniversary of the Holy Name MS Center," said Kevin McCarthy, Vice President and Executive Director for the Holy Name Health Care Foundation. "The success of our annual golf and tennis outing is a direct measure of the commitment and generosity of our supporters in the community. MS statistics are staggering with a diagnosis being made every hour. Holy Name's MS Center is dedicated to continuing the fight against MS and to continue to provide our patients with award-winning, comprehensive MS care."

Brett Massingham, PGA Pro Golfer and Maggie Weder, USGA Womens Amateur, were co-chairs of this event and living proof that having MS shouldn't deter one's dreams. Both co-chairs are strong advocates on behalf of Holy Name's MS Center and continue to help raise critical funds through this event as well as through their own personal efforts.

The Holy Name Medical Center's MS Center is the only non-profit, state licensed health care facility providing premier care of multiple sclerosis-related healthcare in northern New Jersey. Holy Name's MS Center offers a wide range of services to individuals living with MS and their families, including diagnosis and testing, treatment, psychosocial support, education, and the opportunity to participate in research studies through Holy Names Institute for Clinical Research.

The Holy Name Health Care Foundation is the philanthropic division of Holy Name Medical Center, supporting the not-for-profit hospital in its commitment to provide outstanding healthcare throughout the community. As the fundraising arm for the hospital, the Foundation relies on the generosity of supporters to sustain its healing mission and to stay ahead of the curve with the latest advancements in medical technologies.
