In anticipation of Hurricane Sandy, Holy Name Medical Center has activated our internal Emergency Operations Center, and the state-designated Medical Coordination Center for large-scale emergencies. As the hurricane approaches, we want to reassure the community that Holy Name will remain open and operational. The Medical Center has made comprehensive preparations and taken all necessary precautions to ensure the safety and security of our patients and staff.
Holy Name's administration has planned for adequate staffing by providing accommodations for essential employees and transportation for any essential staff who cannot get to the Medical Center on their own. The facility is fully stocked with all vital supplies, equipment and food for our patients and employees. In the event of a power failure, Holy Name's generators will ensure continued operation.
While many elective procedures took place as scheduled this morning, some cancellations have occurred at the discretion of physicians and their patients. At this time, the Regional Cancer Center, the DayAway adult respite care program and the School of Nursing are closed. The School of Nursing, as well as the Regional Dialysis Center, will be closed tomorrow. As the situation develops, other centers or programs may also close.
Holy Name Medical Center will issue updates to the press and through our website, Facebook and Twitter pages, as needed.
