Patriot Award Ceremony

At a ceremony held at Holy Name Medical Center, Vice President Edward "Chuck" Gerity received the United States Department of Defense Patriot Award, which is the only Department of Defense award that is recommended and presented by a member of the National Guard or Reserve.  Sergeant Juan C. Rodriguez, a former Holy Name employee, had nominated Gerity in recognition of his continued support of Sergeant Rodriguez during his tour in Afghanistan and two tours in Iraq as a member of the National Guard.

"This award really goes to all of the women and men of the United States Military for their dedication to our country," Gerity said. "I proudly accept the Patriot Award on behalf of everyone at Holy Name who supports our country's Citizen Warriors."

Sergeant Rodriguez also presented President/CEO Michael Maron with an American flag that had flown over the sergeant's base in Afghanistan.
