One of Bergen Country's premier Jewish organizations is saying 'L'Chaim" to its Catholic neighbor down the street.
On February 8th, SINAI Schools will honor Holy Name Medical Center with its prestigious Community Partnership Award. The award will be presented to Holy Name's President and CEO, Michael Maron, at SINAI Schools Annual Benefit Dinner, at the Marriott Glenpointe Hotel in Teaneck, NJ.
By their names alone, SINAI Schools and Holy Name may seem like unlikely partners. SINAI serves Jewish children with special needs. Holy Name is one of the top Catholic Medical Centers in the state.
However, SINAI Schools and Holy Name Medical Center have plenty in common, starting with their address. Both are on Teaneck Road, less than two miles apart. Both are well-established and respected community institutions serving many of the same families.
They also share a rich history.
For almost two decades, Holy Name Medical Center has partnered with SINAI Schools, providing vocational training placement for their high school students and adults with special needs.
Operating inclusive special education schools for children Grades 1-12 as well as programs for adults, SINAI is widely regarded as one of the country’s leading Jewish schools for children with learning or developmental disabilities whose needs cannot be met in a regular education setting. Each of SINAI’s schools is housed in a regular education partner Jewish Elementary or High School, providing an inclusion experience that is personalized for every single child.
Holy Name Medical Center (HNMC) is a fully accredited, not-for-profit healthcare facility based in Teaneck, NJ. Founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace in 1925, HNMC has evolved into a dynamic medical center that provides the highest standards of clinical care and advanced technology in an environment rooted in compassion and respect for each patient.
HNMC has responded to the growing diversity in the community it serves by developing culturally and linguistically sensitive services and accommodations for members of the religious Jewish community. HNMC places strong emphasis on community relationships, and has developed a strong reputation for its warm environment, where individuals of all faiths feel welcome and at home.
