In response to New Jersey's continued emergency blood shortage, Holy Name Medical Center is hosting another blood drive on Wednesday, August 30 from 2 PM – 8 PM.
"This is an opportunity to make a powerful contribution to so many patients in need," explained Edward Torres, administrative director of pathology and laboratory medicine at Holy Name. "We also checked in with the New York Blood Services Center, and representatives confirmed that donors who gave blood at our drive back on July 5th can still donate blood at our August 30th blood drive."
The blood supply has dipped to a dangerous level once again. Blood banks, hospitals, and healthcare facilities rely on donations, which are critically important in the event of a trauma or other potentially fatal emergency.
"Emergencies can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any given moment, said Torres. "We understand that first hand, which is why we decided to get involved – not just for our medical center, but so others will have access to the resources they need to provide life-saving care."
