Holy Name Medical Center's Asian Health Services is hosting its 9th annual Health Festival at the medical center's Marian Hall Conference Center, located at 718 Teaneck Road, Teaneck, N.J.
The event is broken up into two parts, occurring over two weekends. Attendees must register and first participate in part one, a comprehensive blood test that can be taken either September 16 or 17, from 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. Participants will be screened for over 30 health markers, such as diabetes, anemia, cholesterol, and more, and must fast 12 hours prior to their screening.
Participants must then return for part two on September 30 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., to receive the results of the blood tests and avail of free consultation. Physicians of various specialties will be on hand to discuss the results of the blood work. Additional services and screenings –– such as eye exam, EKG, and flu shot –– are available on a first–come, first–serve and limited basis.
"Holy Name Medical Center is committed to reducing barriers and providing culturally sensitive health care to diverse populations," said Kyung Hee Choi, Vice President of Asian Health Services at Holy Name. "Having served thousands of Asian Americans in almost a decade, our annual health festival is an important long–term commitment to improving population health."
"Our physicians and medical professionals are key partners in the success of our annual health festival, which draws over a thousand community members each year from places near and far," said Dr. Hee Yang, Medical Director of Asian Health Services. "Community members know that they will have access to physicians who can speak their language or understand their culture, and are therefore more trusting and at ease with discussing their health concerns."
More than 50 physicians of various specializations – ranging from internal medicine, cardiology, radiology, neurology, endocrinology, oncology, diabetes education, nutrition, and more – will be volunteering their services on September 30 to provide consultation in the second part of the annual health festival.
The Health Festival is free and open to uninsured or underinsured Asian Americans, ages 18 years, and older. To make an appointment or for general questions, call 201-833-3399.
