Holy Name Medical Center was again awarded the top grade, an "A," from The Leapfrog Group (Leapfrog) for its hospital safety score, which rates how well hospitals protect patients from accidents, errors, injuries and infections. Holy Name was one of 832 awarded an "A" for its commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. Of the 68 New Jersey acute care hospitals graded, roughly 44% - 30 hospitals - earned an "A" for safety.
Holy Name continues to foster a culture of safety and quality and The Leapfrog Group's latest designation validates our efforts," said Michael Maron, President and CEO of Holy Name. "As individuals, each member of our healthcare team brings a unique level of skill and expertise to the patient experience. As a team, we share in the mission to prioritize patient safety, which is why Holy Name is consistently ranked among the best hospitals in the state."
"It takes consistent, unwavering dedication to patients to achieve the highest standards of patient safety. An 'A' Safety Grade recognizes hospitals for this accomplishment," said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. "We congratulate the clinicians, Board, management and staff of Holy Name for showing the country what it means to put patient safety first."
Developed under the guidance of a Blue Ribbon National Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public.
