In response to New Jersey's continued blood shortage, Holy Name Medical Center is hosting another blood drive on Tuesday, April 17 from 1:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
The New Jersey Blood Services Center declared the blood shortage emergency after the reserve dipped below a two-day supply. Blood banks, hospitals, and healthcare facilities rely on donations, which are critically important in the event of a trauma or other potentially fatal emergency.
"Emergencies can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any given moment," said Edward Torres, administrative director of pathology and laboratory medicine at Holy Name. "We understand that first hand, which is why we decided to get involved - not just for our medical center, but so others will have access to the resources they need to provide life-saving care."
