Holy Name Medical Center has appointed Dae W. Lee of Oradell, N.J., to the newly created position of assistant vice president of Asian Health Services. Mr. Lee is a healthcare executive, consultant, and strategic advisor with more than 20 years of experience in the non-profit and for-profit sectors. He has held senior leadership positions with several of the most prestigious healthcare systems in the world, including Mount Sinai and the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City, the Mayo Clinic, GE Healthcare, and Cardinal Health. He was also a national partnership executive with the Advisory Board Company in Washington, D.C.
"As the metropolitan area's leading provider of patient care, outreach, and healthcare education for 350,000 Asian-Americans living in New Jersey and New York, Holy Name welcomes Dae W. Lee," said Michael Maron, president and CEO of Holy Name Medical Center. "We look forward to building upon our culturally competent healthcare services, expanding our partnerships within the Asian community, and strengthening patient care experiences and engagement."
In his new role, Mr. Lee oversees Asian Health Services' operations, implements new strategies for growth and development, and directs AHS's individualized Korean, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, and Indian programs. He will also partner with Asian community leaders and residents; Holy Name executives, physicians, and volunteers; and potential financial supporters to grow AHS and create new services to meet the unique needs of these patient populations.
"Asian Health Services is excited to move into our next chapter, to utilize Mr. Lee's skills and talents to advance access to care for Asian-Americans, reduce health disparities that affect our population, and improve health outcomes through evidence-based processes that are culturally sensitive and cost-efficient," said Kyung Hee Choi, MPH, vice president of Asian Health Services.
Mr. Lee believes his new position is a "tremendous opportunity to improve the lives of my Asian-American neighbors, as well as all community members in Bergen and Hudson counties."
"My singular focus in healthcare," he added, "is to deliver better outcomes that are highly reliable in the most patient- and staff-friendly environment. I embrace the opportunity to help people pursue their passions -- assisting patients and their families in attaining quality experiences, support staff and providers in building more fulfilling careers, and helping Holy Name drive for its biggest impact in population health."
Mr. Lee's previous positions include: chief transformation officer for Mount Sinai Beth Israel, senior director of registration for Hospital for Special Surgery, vice president of commercial initiatives at Cardinal Health, and administrator for the Mayo Clinic. He received his bachelor of science degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his master of health administration degree from the University of Missouri.
