Dr. Stefanie Vaimakis is a board-certified bariatric surgeon who is committed to supporting people on their weight loss journey so they become the healthiest versions of themselves. She customizes treatment to each individual and emphasizes aftercare support for long-term success. She works with dietitians, health coaches, and other experts to ensure her patients receive well-rounded care that addresses their unique circumstances.
Dr. Vaimakis has been in practice for over 20 years and has completed over 6,000 procedures, including robotic gastric bypass surgery, sleeve gastrectomy, and revisional bariatric surgery. She is also skilled in robotic paraesophageal and incisional hernia repair, gallbladder removal, and surgery for reflux disease. Dr. Vaimakis performs all of her surgeries using the latest robotic techniques and has instructed other doctors on how to perform robotic bariatric surgery.
Dr. Vaimakis received her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and completed her residency in General Surgery at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center in New York City. She then completed her fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at Montefiore Medical Center in Bronx, New York. She is a fellow of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons. Her research has been published and presented nationally.
