About Me:

Mark A. Hartzband, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is internationally renowned and has extensive, specialized training and skill in joint care and total joint replacement. He is Medical Director of the Bone and Joint Center at Holy Name Medical Center, and founder and medical director of Hartzband Center for Hip & Knee Replacement in Paramus, NJ.

Dr. Hartzband is an innovator whose contributions have helped revolutionize the way surgery is performed.  He was one of the first surgeons to perform minimally invasive hip and knee replacement and pioneered many of today's surgical techniques, including two-incision hip replacement and quadriceps-sparing knee replacement. Dr. Hartzband helped develop some of the industry's most advanced orthopedic implants, including a gender knee and hip specifically designed for the female anatomy. He also pioneered same-day hip and knee replacements, which he has performed since 2002.

Dr. Hartzband is an expert to whom other orthopedic surgeons turn for information, instruction and advice. He lectures nationally and internationally, and has authored numerous articles and book chapters on topics relating to total hip and knee arthroplasty, minimally invasive techniques, and computer-assisted surgical navigation.

After receiving his medical degree from McGill University, Dr. Hartzband completed a general surgery residency followed by an orthopedic residency at Montefiore Hospital/Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and an active member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.
