About Me:

Matthew D. Garrett, MD, MM, is a Columbia-trained board-eligible radiation oncologist. He has extensive experience with external beam radiotherapy, image-guided radiotherapy, stereotactic body radiotherapy, as well as brachytherapy techniques. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles in the field of radiation oncology, and also serves as a formal reviewer for the journal Practical Radiation Oncology.

Dr. Garrett completed residency in radiation oncology at New York Presbyterian-Columbia University Irving Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. During residency training, he received multiple awards, including the Steven Isaacson Award for Clinical Excellence as well as the RSNA Roentgen Research award. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, NJ, and earned his medical degree from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is also a member of The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO).

Dr. Garrett is dedicated to guiding his patients through their cancer journey and he is committed to supporting his patients every step of the way. He understands that this journey may be scary or challenging, so he keeps an open line of communication with his patients to develop a treatment plan that aligns with their goals and improves their overall experience with therapy.

Prior to a career in medicine, Dr. Garrett was a Juilliard-trained operatic tenor with an international performance schedule, with highlights including five solo appearances at Carnegie Hall. He currently serves on the Board of Directors at Marshall Opera.
