About

Dr. Hima Ghanta is a board-certified colorectal surgeon at Holy Name, specializing in both colon and rectal surgery for malignant (cancerous) as well as benign (non-cancerous) conditions including diverticulitis, hemorrhoids, and rectal bleeding. She has advanced training in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Ghanta has been practicing for almost 20 years and highly values the close individual relationships she builds with her patients and their families. Her long-standing mission has been to foster open conversations about sensitive health topics. She empowers her patients with knowledge to address their health needs, ask specific questions, and stay aware of appropriate and timely screenings.

Dr. Ghanta earned her medical degree at St. George's University School of Medicine, Grenada. She completed her residency in general surgery at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey. She subsequently completed her fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital in 2008. She has been a fellow of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons since 2008.

Dr. Ghanta is proud to be a physician and surgeon at Holy Name due to its well-established reputation for offering high quality in northern New Jersey.

In her spare time, she enjoys reading, running, cake decorating, and spending time with her husband and two boys.
