Personalized Cardiac Rehabilitation at Holy Name Medical Center
Our Cardiac Rehabilitation features state-of-the-art technology and a highly skilled staff of cardiac experts. It offers comprehensive services that are designed to meet each individual's needs in a comfortable, friendly environment.
Cardiac-certified registered nurses and exercise physiologists work with physicians to develop a closely-monitored exercise regimen and lifestyle management program personalized to each patient. A dietitian, diabetes educator, pharmacist and psychologist provide additional counseling and knowledge to assist individuals in their recovery.
The Cardiac Rehab Center offers two types of programs:
- Cardiac rehabilitation: As a 12-week closely monitored plan of one-hour sessions held three times a week. It is designed specifically for patients with stable angina and those recovering from a heart attack, coronary bypass surgery, valve replacement, heart transplant, or interventional procedures such as angioplasty and/or stent placement. A physician referral is required to participate in this program.
- Cardiac fitness: A program for individuals working on recovery and maintenance. Held in the Medical Center's gym on the Teaneck campus, the exercise regimen and lifestyle management program is also closely monitored and crafted to address the individual's specific needs. A medical clearance is needed stating that the individual is cleared for a progressive cardiac fitness program, which is typically not covered by insurance. Holy Name's modern gym is equipped with treadmills, bikes, Airdynes, rowing machines, NuStep machines, ellipticals, arm ergometers and free weights. Locker rooms and showers are provided for participants' convenience.
