Holy Name partners with Fresenius Kidney Care to provide dialysis at the Holy Name Renal Care Center, which has earned a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Experienced and compassionate staff members provide dialysis treatment to patients with chronic kidney disease.
Dialysis is a method of purifying the blood and performing other functions that the kidneys normally do, outside the body. Patients receive dialysis in a comfortable hospital-based setting, which allows convenient access to emergency or ancillary services and other medical specialists, if necessary.
The CMS rating system awards 1 to 5 stars based on a series of measurements of each centers' clinical performance and patient outcomes. The Holy Name Renal Care Center consistently earns high marks, ensuring patients are receiving the most efficient, advanced care available.
The Center is also named after Robert Rigolosi, MD, a pioneer in the field of nephrology who opened the dialysis center at Holy Name in 1969. At the time it had just two stations in the ICU. Together with Holy Name's hospital president, Sister Patricia Lynch, they conceived a renal care center that became a national model and one of the country's largest. Dr. Rigolosi served as the Center's Medical Director for 50 years before retiring in 2019.
