Many patients with multiple sclerosis need infusions periodically and Holy Name's MS Center is committed to making this aspect of treatment as comfortable and timely as possible. As part of this effort, the Center has its own Infusion Suite with dedicated infusion nurses.
The suite, complete with soothing décor and privacy, helps patients feel more relaxed when they receive treatment. It is located within the MS Center, so if a question arises about treatment, an infusion nurse can ask a physician immediately. Patients with mobility issues will also benefit from not having to travel to other parts of the hospital for treatment.
The MS Center infusion nurses are experienced in administering the latest MS therapies and sit with patients for the duration of their treatment, monitoring the session and providing companionship. In addition, Vincent Defedele, Holy Name's pharmacist who prepares the MS infusions, comes to the infusion center to educate patients about their medications when they first come for treatment.
Having an Infusion Suite and specially trained infusion nurses devoted entirely to MS patients streamlines the entire process and results in less wait time for patients. Holy Name's MS Center is one of the few in the area to offer a dedicated Infusion Suite solely for MS patients.
