Patient Resource Library

The Patricia Lynch Cancer Center at Holy Name believes that patients are entitled to be well informed and educated to better enable them to participate in their treatment decisions. The Patient Resource Library is located in our second floor waiting area and is stocked with information from the American Cancer Society. A variety of literature is offered covering specific types of cancer, treatment/therapy options, as well as nutritional and emotional support. Information about additional Holy Name Medical Center services can also be found in the Patient Resource Library.

Oncology Nurse Navigators

The Oncology Nurse Navigator is a professional registered nurse with oncology-specific clinical knowledge who offers individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Using the nursing process, the Oncology Nurse Navigator provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer continuum.

Nutritional Counseling

A Registered Dietitian, certified in oncology nutrition, consults with patients to review treatment side effects affecting nutrition, discuss supplements and meal planning, and assists patients with making better nutritional choices.

Psychosocial Support

A Licensed Social Worker is available to counsel and support patients and caregivers from diagnosis through treatment. The Social Worker also assists patients with practical matters, such as financial concerns and other concrete needs.

Genetic Counseling

Some cancers may be caused by hereditary factors. If you are concerned, you may contact our certified genetic counselor, who specializes in oncology. A risk assessment will be done based on your personal and/or family history of cancer. Genetic testing, usually done on a blood sample, can be arranged as part of the appointment.
