Doula at the BirthPlace

Holy Name Medical Center supports each patient's right to have a doula present during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum care.

• Patients may have one doula at a time to provide emotional, physical, and informational support.
• Doulas may assist with comfort measures, communication, partner support, and early bonding or breastfeeding.
• Doulas must be trained and work in collaboration with the care team.

Please note:

• Doulas do not provide medical care or perform clinical tasks.
• All medical decisions and care are managed by the healthcare team.
• In certain clinical or emergency situations, the care team may limit doula presence to ensure patient safety.
