Revisional Bariatric Surgery
Perhaps you didn't lose enough weight after your initial bariatric surgery, or you regained weight over time. You may also have experienced complications from the initial procedure. Corrective or secondary weight loss surgery may be performed, including:
- Conversion surgery: Converts one type of weight loss surgery to another; for example,
gastric bypass to gastric sleeve
- Enhancement surgery: Adds additional components to an existing surgery; for example, adding
a gastric band to a gastric sleeve
- Reversal surgery: Removes the previous weight loss surgery, such as removing a gastric band
- Repair surgery: Repairing complications from the initial surgery
- Transoral Outlet Reduction (TORe): Non-surgical procedure treats weight regain and/or
dumping syndrome–an issue that can cause symptoms like diarrhea, nausea, bloating, and
dizziness after a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. Typically recommended when the connection
between the stomach and small intestine (the gastric outlet) stretches over time, allowing
food to move through too quickly
